• On April 26, the Office of the People’s Advocate hosted a group of master’s students and teachers from the Law Faculty of the Moldova State University, offering an overview of the place and role of this prestigious institution in the system of national institutions for the protection of human rights.
  • The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the master’s students with the organization and operation of the Office of the People’s Advocate and the institutional intervention mechanisms at the level of preventing and combating human rights violations.
  • The People’s Advocate – Ceslav PANICO, the Secretary General of the Office of the People’s Advocate – Vladimir COJOCARU, the Head of the Child Rights Department – Tamara TENTIUC, the main consultant of the Monitoring and Reporting Department – Iuliana COZMA, the senior consultant of the Torture Prevention Department – Elena PALADII – offered an overview on the ‘model institution’ in the field of human rights, accredited with ‘A’ status, as a proof of the independence and efficiency of the National Institution for Human Rights according to the Paris Principles.
  • The following aspects generated increased interest: respect for human rights in places of detention; respect for the rights of children in detention with their caregivers (with mothers in detention); the value and impact of monitoring reports on the level of respect for human rights; specific mechanisms for the protection of human rights through mechanisms of intervention assigned to the competence of the Office of the People’s Advocate; activities of dissemination of information on the state of human rights in the Republic of Moldova and ways of improvement, etc.
  • The visiting master’s students are enrolled in the ‘Human Rights and Democratization’ master’s program at the Centre for European Studies, Yerevan State University. At the moment, they are in academic mobility at the Law Faculty of Moldova State University, the ‘Public Law and Electronic Government’ master’s program. The study visit generated increased enthusiasm, and the master’s students have identified authentic answers to the key questions they undertook in the context of elaboration of the master’s theses.
  • The study visit has been organized within the Project ‘Promoting Human and Children’s Rights Education at the State University of Moldova – January 2023-July 2024’. The event was facilitated by PhD Rodica CIOBANU and PhD Lilia CHIRTOACĂ, Law Faculty of Moldova State University, Public Law Department, and represents a confirmation of the axiology of institutional synergy in the field of human rights and children’s rights.
