ACADEMIC MOBILITY AND COMPARATIVE RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC LAW

In the academic year 2025–2026 at the Department of Public Law of the Law Faculty of Moldova State University an extensive academic mobility program was initiated.

During August 30 – September 30, 2025, Ms. Zelena-Bauer, associate researcher at the Centre for East European Law at the University of Graz, was in the Moldovan academic environment to conduct a series of comparative research on fundamental human rights, the efficiency of legal protection mechanisms, etc. During the research activities, coordinated by Assoc. Prof., Hab. Dr., Rodica CIOBANU, aspects related to the issue of adjusting national legislation to European standards and the modalities of inter-institutional collaboration have been discussed and analyzed, with an emphasis on identifying priority directions of scientific research.

During the mobility, discussions have been organized with the academic community on:

  • priority research topics in the field of public law;
  • the importance of comparative research in determining the best solutions for local problems;
  • the challenges and opportunities of legal reform in the European context;
  • the role of the university in the process of consolidating the rule of law.

The research activity was complemented by information visits to the Office of the People’s Advocate, to non-governmental organizations, as well as to the research centers of the State University of Moldova. At the same time, relevant scientific works in the field of human rights, the rule of law, democratic processes and security developed by members of the Public Law Department have been consulted.

This mobility contributes to the expansion of the international collaboration of the Moldova State University, strengthening the academic visibility of the Law Faculty and the Public Law Department in European research networks.
