STUDENTS IN MOBILITY AT THE MASTER PROGRAM ‘PUBLIC LAW AND E-GOVERNMENT’ OF THE LAW FACULTY OF THE MSU ON A STUDY VISIT TO THE OFFICE OF THE PEOPLE’S ADVOCATE

On March 24, 2026, master’s students in mobility at the ‘Public Law and E-Government’ master’s program benefited from a study visit to the Office of the Ombudsman.

The master’s students had the opportunity to learn about the specifics of the institution, the notification methods and intervention mechanisms for the protection and promotion of human and child rights.

The Ombudsman Ceslav Panico, the Secretary General Vladimir Cojocaru and the institution’s representatives showed openness to dialogue, explained the institution’s role in preventing violations of human and child rights, the degree and manner of collaboration with other national and international actors in strengthening and streamlining protection mechanisms. In particular, the institution’s role in protecting children’s rights was emphasized, through rapid intervention, through self-referral, as appropriate, through monitoring actions, cooperation with public authorities specialized in the protection of children’s rights and through recommendations to remedy accidental and systemic violations.

The master’s students have been informed about possible internships and volunteer activities offered to young people within the Office of the Ombudsman, which would constitute an opportunity for effective involvement in processes of disseminating the values ​​of an inclusive society, free from violence, discrimination and abuse.

The study visit was organized in partnership by the Faculty of Law of Moldova State University and the Office of the Ombudsman, within the project ‘Promoting Human and Children’s Rights Education at the State University of Moldova’, developed together with the network of universities Global Campus of Human Rights and Global Campus Caucasus.

The activity was coordinated by the head of the Public Law Department, Dr. hab. Rodica Ciobanu and teaching staff from the Public Law Department of the Faculty of Law of the MSU, Dr. Lilia Chirtoacă, Dr. Olga Baciu and Dr. Natalia Creciun.
