INTERINSTITUTIONAL DIALOGUE ON STRENGTHENING COOPERATION WITHIN THE UNITA UNIVERSITY NETWORK

 

On March 19, 2026, the Law Faculty of the Moldova State University was visited by Mr. Fernando Arlettaz, professor at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, Principal Investigator of the research project ‘Political transformations in an era of democratic changes: challenges to social inclusion’, funded by the UNITA European University consortium, together with Dr. Andreea Vertes and Dr. Codruta Guzei-Mangu from the Faculty of Law, West University of Timisoara.

The visit was carried out in the context of obtaining by Moldova State University of the status of a member of the Geminae network of the European university alliance UNITA – Universitas Montium, created in 2020. At the moment, it includes 12 higher education institutions and a legal entity (UNITA GEIE), from 7 European countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Switzerland, Ukraine. The mission of the alliance is to support innovation in education, promote research and innovation in areas such as green energy, cultural heritage, circular economy, inclusive societies, digital transition, global health, create an international virtual campus and promote European citizenship and multilingualism, through the intercomprehension of Romance languages.

The purpose of the visit was based on the mission of the UNITA university network. The discussion with the faculty administration, teaching staff and researchers from the Faculty of Law of the Moldova State University focused on an opportunity to initiate a future collaboration, in order to expand the network of academics involved in promoting and supporting the rule of law, national and regional security, energy and economic security, human rights and freedoms, and the principles of good governance based on diverse interdisciplinary research activities in the areas covered by UNITA activity.

The discussion was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Moldova State University, Sergiu BAIESU, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Public Law, Rodica CIOBANU, Ph.D., Associate Professor, vice-deans of the Faculty of Law, Liliana Țurcan, Natalia Gavrilenco, teaching staff and researchers from the Faculty of Law and the Scientific and Research Laboratory ‘Comparative Public Law and E-Government’.

The dialogue is an essential pillar in strengthening the capacities of the university environment to encourage quality education and research, innovations and technologies, and to increase the degree of internationalization of the MSU.
