INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENTIFIC RESPONSES TO THE CHALLENGES OF CONTEMPORARY SECURITY AND CITIZEN WELL-BEING

On December 26, 2025, the Scientific Summary Seminar on the theme ‘Integration of methodologies for analysing citizens’ security and well-being’ took place, an event dedicated to strengthening interdisciplinary approaches in social security and well-being research.

The seminar was organized in the context of the completion of the second stage of the research subprogram ‘Strengthening socio-economic and legal mechanisms for ensuring citizens’ well-being and security’ and brought together researchers from two research structures: Laboratory of Scientific Research ‘Comparative Public Law and E-Government’ and Laboratory of Scientific Research ‘Sustainable Development and Economic Performance’. The event provided a common framework for scientific reflection on socio-legal and economic methodological tools applicable to the assessment of citizens’ security and well-being.

During the seminar, essential aspects for ongoing research and scientific contributions have been presented and discussed, such as:

  • Methodological axes of interdisciplinary security research, presented by Rodica CIOBANU, who emphasized the role of integrating legal, economic and social analysis in identifying efficient mechanisms for ensuring the well-being of citizens;
  • Perspectives for reconceptualizing the scientific status of the welfare state, presented by Ion GUCEAC, who highlighted the need to strengthen institutional and normative mechanisms for guaranteeing well-being in the context of contemporary challenges;
  • Quantitative and qualitative economic determinants in identifying the well-being establishment index, presented by Maria HAMURARU and Adriana BUZDUGAN, with an emphasis on correlating economic indicators with the social and legal dimensions of well-being.

Also, the presentations and debates, in which all members of the research team participated, targeted a series of related current topics, such as: interpretative methodologies for assessing the degree of applicability of legislation in the field of social security; social security and the mechanisms for determining value axes; the consolidated economic dimensions of citizens’ well-being; mechanisms for assessing the efficiency and quality of justice in international practice; the role of legal doctrine in developing critical approach skills; as well as determination of the effects of artificial intelligence in increasing the efficiency of response tools to security challenges.

The seminar highlighted the importance of methodological convergence between law, economics and social sciences, confirming the relevance of interdisciplinary research both for the substantiation of public policies oriented towards the security and well-being of citizens, and for the development of analytical and conceptual models adapted to contemporary realities.
