The Faculty of Law at Moldova State University (USM) proudly announces the integration of innovative teaching methods within the Environmental Law course, using the educational tool Climate Fresk, provided by the Global Campus of Human Rights.
This initiative is part of the European project “Development of Climate Justice and Human Rights Education at the Moldova State University”, implemented by USM in partnership with the Global Campus of Human Rights. The project aims to promote and protect environmental rights and climate justice, contributing to the generation and dissemination of essential knowledge that can positively influence public policies, especially in the context of European Union enlargement.
Climate Fresk is a three-hour interactive workshop, internationally recognized and present in over 150 countries, offering accessible and scalable climate education. Based on the scientific data and findings of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Report, this workshop transforms the educational process into a participatory experience, stimulating critical reflection, strategic thinking, and the identification of solutions for concrete action.
At the Faculty of Law, USM, the Climate Fresk method has been successfully applied during the practical sessions of the Environmental Law course, providing students with the opportunity to analyze the causes and effects of climate change, as well as its impact on ecosystems and society — from migration and armed conflicts to social inequalities and human rights violations. Participants valued the opportunity to connect scientific information with everyday realities and acknowledged that the workshop shifted their perception of the climate crisis, motivating them to adopt concrete actions in their daily lives.
The implementation of this innovative approach was carried out by the team of facilitators: Dr. Rodica-Iordanca Iordanov, Associate Professor; Irina Punga, PhD Candidate, Lecturer; Doina Cuciurca, Vice Dean, Lecturer.
The Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to training specialists equipped to respond to climate challenges and to actively contribute to building a sustainable future, through a modern, high-quality education grounded in global realities.
