⚖️ International Scientific Conference ‘Yesterday’s Cultural Heritage – Implications for the Development of Tomorrow’s Sustainable Society’ at Moldova State University
On September 21, 2026, as part of the 14th edition of the international scientific conference ‘Yesterday’s Cultural Heritage – Implications for the Development of Tomorrow’s Sustainable Society’ – held within the Iași – Chișinău – Lviv – Bucharest academic framework – the participants of Section 16 convened to address the theme ‘Traditions and Developments in National Legal Science: Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence, and New Research Paradigms.’
The Section’s proceedings brought together researchers and academics who addressed topical issues regarding the transformation of legal research, digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence in the legal field, legal certainty, constitutional justice, European public order and security, the case law of the Supreme Court of Justice, public administration, legal psychology, and legal consciousness in the digital age. Likewise, a significant place in the program was held by subjects concerning artificial intelligence and the future of refugees, issues of individual and professional identity, mechanisms for the enforcement of maintenance obligations, and the management of environmental noise.
Based on the results obtained, have been highlighted constant vulnerabilities of the research dimension at the national level, in comparison with the reality of the European states. Ms Ciobanu Rodica, Hab. Dr., presented a report on the quality standard in the institutionalization of national legal research and emphasized, among other things, the damage to the balance between institutional memory and young people’s access to research due to the migration of the latter to other occupational areas, the need for a medium and long-term strategy for the development of the field.
Ms Ludmila Roșca, Hab. Dr., addressed the topic of the intelligent social group, as a decisive factor in the sustainable development of contemporary society. The intelligent social group was appreciated as a nucleus of professionals, in various fields, which would have the mission of configuring and influencing strategic directions of institutional and professional development, in the spirit of an appropriate level of social and legal culture. In the context of the presented report, the academic environment was mentioned as a decisive one in the axiological construction and scientific-practical foundation of public policies and institutional and national acts of strategic development.
The subject of artificial intelligence was approached in relation to the professional identity of the judge, Ms Elena Arămă, Hab. Dr. and Dr. Natalia Creciun exploring the role of the contemporary judge, from the perspective of the set of professional skills in the era of artificial intelligence, but also of the risks of threatening the quality of the judicial act, the human treatment of the litigant, the level of resistance and well-being of the judges in front of new realities.
The participants approached current topics, under the aspect of problematization and critical analysis, in the context of the national reality and the events in the region. The presentations generated consistent discussions, were framed on the dimension of academic dialogue related to the current challenges of legal science and to new research directions generated by technological and social transformations, which conferred the event special value.
