THE SUMMER SCHOOL „ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP – STRATEGIC PRIORITY OF THE POLICY OF THE CANDIDATE STATES FOR EU INTEGRATION” BROUGHT TOGETHER YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA, UKRAINE AND ROMANIA AT THE MOLDOVA STATE UNIVERSITY
From June 29 to July 1, 2026, Moldova State University (MSU) hosted the Summer School entitled „Active Citizenship – Strategic Priority of the Policy of the Candidate States for EU Integration”. The event, organized within the CERD project, represented a platform for dialogue and academic training dedicated to future specialists in the region.
The Summer School brought together a group of young people from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania, providing them with the necessary framework to analyze the role of active citizenship in the context of the European integration processes. The participants had the opportunity to debate the current challenges of the candidate states and to identify solutions for strengthening democracy and the rule of law in the European space.
Experts from the Public Law Department contributed to facilitating the workshops and debate sessions, providing participants with essential theoretical and practical perspectives on the harmonization of national legislation with European Union norms.
„The activity within this summer school reflected our constant commitment to train not only legal technicians, but also visionary professionals, aware of their civic vocation and the importance of democratic values. The international collaboration between students from Moldova, Ukraine and Romania demonstrates that the young generation is ready to actively contribute to the sustainable development and European path of their states”, emphasized Dr. Habil. Rodica Ciobanu, representative of the Department of Public Law.
The school program was structured to encourage the exchange of good practices and the development of legal argumentation skills, emphasizing civic education as a fundamental pillar of social transformations. This initiative reconfirms MSU’s position as an institution of excellence in education and research, directly involved in the consolidation of the rule of law and in the processes of modernization of society.
