WORKING VISIT TO THE INSTITUTE OF SOCIO-HUMAN RESEARCH „C.S. NICOLĂESCU-PLOPȘOR” OF THE ROMANIAN ACADEMY: A NEW CHAPTER IN MOLDOVAN-ROMANIAN ACADEMIC COLLABORATION
A delegation from the Moldova State University, comprising Academician Ion Guceac, Dr. habil. Rodica Ciobanu, Head of the Public Law Department, and Dr. Natalia Creciun, was received on a working visit at the Institute of Socio-Human Research „C.S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor” of the Romanian Academy, where a meeting took place with the institute’s director, Professor Sevastian Cercel.
The host of the meeting, Professor Sevastian Cercel, opened the dialogue by expressing full openness to the continuation and deepening of the relationship between the two academic institutions. In his view, the Moldovan-Romanian research partnership represents an endeavour aimed at strengthening the shared space for research and innovation on both banks of the Prut River. The institute’s director drew attention to the fact that intensifying strategic collaboration is an urgent necessity in an era marked by paradigmatic shifts and unprecedented geopolitical, social and cultural challenges, thus reaffirming the central role that academia holds in understanding and shaping contemporary society.
Professor Cercel’s reflections found an immediate echo in the contributions of the MSU delegation. Dr. habil. Rodica Ciobanu proceeded from the premise that, in today’s academic landscape, the fragmentation of knowledge can no longer be accepted as the norm, advocating for the building of partnerships capable of facilitating research from a truly integrative perspective. In her view, drawing upon the shared cultural and historical heritage represents not merely a comparative advantage, but also a responsibility towards the current needs of the scientific community.
Academician Ion Guceac enriched this perspective with a broader dimension, noting that the importance of strategic collaborations in the socio-human field goes beyond academic boundaries. Through cooperation, it becomes possible to transform research into an active instrument for understanding the present, providing solid intellectual reference points in an increasingly uncertain global climate.
Dr. Natalia Creciun directed the discussion towards the future, emphasising the need to train the next generation of researchers and to cultivate interdisciplinary competencies. She also highlighted that the open bilateral partnerships between the Republic of Moldova and Romania create concrete and valuable opportunities for young researchers.
Also, representatives of the MSU and employees of the „C.S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor” Institute for Socio-Human Research participated in a round table „Research without borders: frameworks for strategic cooperation between the „C.S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor” Institute of the Romanian Academy and Moldova State University”, during which common perspectives for institutional collaboration were discussed. 📋
Throughout the meetings, it was underlined that the relationship between the two institutions transcends the mere exchange of expertise, constituting a shared platform for the analysis of complex phenomena defining the current regional context. Interdisciplinary approaches – combining law, history, sociology, ethnology and other disciplines – alongside interconnected networks of researchers, can contribute substantially to identifying solutions for the preservation of cultural identity and the consolidation of social resilience.
